Having told you what we don’t want, here’s what your proposal should include.
Cover Letter
Your letter should provide us a brief overview of who you are, the title of your manuscript (short story or full length), a summary of what it is about, how it will benefit the reader, and why you think we should publish it.
Short Story Submissions for Anthologies:
Short story manuscripts should be no more than 5,000 words in length. Stories may have been published before, either self published or in any other format, including eBook, Amazon single stories, but not in another anthology. Short story manuscripts may be submitted without the need of prior approval from La Frontera Publishing's editor. They may be emailed to us as a Microsoft Word, RTF, or text-format document.
Full-Length Book Proposals:
Book Synopsis
Include a one- to two-page synopsis of the manuscript (no more than 1,200 words), and give us an actual word count of the entire manuscript, or the expected word count if you’re still developing the manuscript.
Table of Contents
Send along a complete table of contents. Include chapter summaries.
Sample Chapters
Include two completed chapters. One of them must be the first chapter.
Additional Information
Please let us know if you are a specialist in the field about which you are writing. Let us know why you are qualified to write the book.
Also, please let us know if you are submitting the manuscript to any other publishers.
Manuscript Review
We will try to review your proposal in a timely manner. Please give us at least six weeks to respond to your proposal. If you have not heard back from us by then, e-mail our acquisitions editor at:
